FAQ

When did you join Internet Underground?

Sept. 5th 1995, at IU ground zero. (Oh wait - that's the wrong phrasing...ground zero is usually like the epicenter of some great catastrophe, right? Well, ah, maybe that's not so wrong after all...)

How long have you been online?

Since Sept. 5th.

What do you spend most of your time doing online?

Oh you know, this and that. Usually chatting or trying to find interesting art sites. That kind of stuff.

How do you spend offline time?

Listening to music, trying to play my guitar, deconstructing small used books, drawing, getting beat in tennis, reading, working on the house we just bought, playing with our puppy, and trying new restaurants with my wife. Oh, yeah and there's that art direction and design thing....

Do you surf with links underlined?

Don't ever ask me that again.

What was the first site that really caught your attention?

I really liked The Place when I saw it. I began to realize the implications of the web and how it could be used as medium for fine art.

What scares you about the Internet?

Nothing really. Except that one photo Sarah showed me.

What best prepared you for your work?

Coach called a double reverse pass, which takes about 27 seconds for the ball to get back to me. I'm all stretched out making the toss and this linebacker plants his helmet firmly in my chin. I get lifted off the ground from the force of the blow and hit helmet first on the turf. It took 22 stitches to close the wound.

Are your a dog or cat person? Or perhaps some alternative pet?

I like cats and dogs both. I'm easy.

"In high school I was..."

High School is incredibly overrated.

Describe your favorite monitor decoration/toy?

Illustrator/photographer postcards.

The ultimate online snack is...?

Vodka.

What applications are usually running on your computer?

Quark, Photoshop, Netscape, Eudora, Lotus Notes, Diablo and DukeNukem3D (where editor Rob Bernstein's onscreen persona is usually on the receiving end of an rpg)

What's your favorite book?

Non-fiction: The Spirit of Abstract Expressionism by Elaine deKooning.
Fiction: 60 stories by Donald Barthelme.

What's your favorite cereal, and when do you indulge?

Morning. Generic Apple Cinnamon O's

What tunes play while you surf?

Lately it's been lots of Ui, Jessamine, Helium, Dianogah, Shellac and June of 44.
