BANDWIDTH CONSERVATION SOCIETY

A collective of Web developers united in their desire to "keep GIFs as tiny as possible--not in area, but in bytecount." The Society seeks to teach slap-happy amateur artists how to conserve the bandwidth by selecting the appropriate palettes, reducing bits per pixel and keeping a sense of balance between cost (download time) and reward (the pretty picture). Taking their tips to heart will keep your users from clicking elsewhere in an impatient huff.
